Trace a corporate action
Preserve the announced, approved, effective and settled states and the exact affected security.Identify the affected security and action
A corporate action begins with one exact listed security and one defined action type. A familiar company name is not enough because the event may affect only one share class, a subsidiary, a predecessor instrument or a newly listed successor. Record the exchange, ticker, stable security identifier, issuer legal name, announcement date, official source and locator. Classify the event precisely: stock split, reverse split, rights issue, capital increase or reduction, merger, acquisition, spin-off, delisting, ticker change or listing transfer. A general news label can hide the identity consequence. Dubaist binds the record to the affected security and keeps the issuer relationship separate. If the source discusses a parent transaction but does not establish an effect on the listed instrument, the public security action remains missing. Multiple actions in one document receive separate records when their dates or effects differ. This first step prevents a transaction headline from creating a duplicate company profile or changing a ticker before the exchange has established the relevant state.
Keep announcement, approval and effectiveness separate
Announcement is evidence that an action has been disclosed, not that it has completed. Approval can depend on the board, shareholders, regulator, court, exchange or another named authority. Each decision has its own date and source. An effective date establishes when the legal, capital or listing change takes effect under the official timetable. Settlement can occur later and may involve allocation, cancellation, crediting or exchange of securities. Dubaist stores announcement, approval, effective and settlement dates as distinct nullable fields. Unknown dates are not derived from customary timelines. A meeting notice proves that a proposal will be considered; published resolutions can prove approval; an exchange circular may establish effective or settlement mechanics. Conditional wording remains conditional. If approvals are outstanding, the lifecycle does not advance simply because a proposed completion date is near. A postponed, rejected, withdrawn or lapsed action is recorded as its own reviewed state so calendars and company pages do not continue to show a transaction as active.
Model ratios, cash components and lineage carefully
Some actions have ratios or cash components, but these fields are meaningful only when both their basis and units are complete. A split ratio, rights entitlement, merger exchange ratio and consolidation ratio describe different mechanics. Do not infer a missing numerator or denominator, and do not convert a textual description into a decimal without a reproducible rule. A cash component needs its currency and role; it must not be confused with a market price or valuation. The security lineage is equally important. A ticker change may preserve the same underlying security identity, while a merger, spin-off or listing transfer can create a successor or terminate an earlier instrument. Dubaist uses explicit relations such as supersedes and conflicts with, together with effective dates and reviewed aliases. The old record is retained for history and redirects only after the successor route is proven. This protects saved links and prevents two live profiles from representing one continuing instrument. Economic interpretation remains outside the identity relation unless separately supported.
Verify successors, conflicts and cancellation
Build a source chain for every lifecycle transition. The record should include the eligible disclosure, exact subject relationship, action type, dates, locator, reviewed EN/RU/AR explanation and verification time. A successor cannot become public merely because an editor drafted it; its own evidence and Human publication gates must pass. A published successor can suppress a superseded action in the current projection without deleting audit history. If two official records disagree about a date, ratio, affected security or completion state, keep both and block the conflicted field. A later correction is linked to the earlier disclosure rather than replacing it silently. Cancellation or withdrawal also needs official evidence and should stop future milestones from appearing as scheduled. Recheck the exchange directory after an identity-changing action to confirm the current route. Do not let a generic article, market rumour or third-party database establish legal effectiveness. The lifecycle is complete only when the latest reviewed official record supports the public state shown to the user.
Use the timeline without predicting the outcome
A verified corporate-action timeline explains what has been announced, approved, made effective or settled. It does not by itself establish whether the action benefits investors, changes fair value or should influence a portfolio. Those questions require current terms, eligible market data, financial analysis, scenario work and Editorial review. The Aramex example on this guide is identity-only. Dubaist identifies Aramex on DFM under ticker ARMX as a stable security route to demonstrate where a future action record would attach. The example does not assert a particular merger, ticker history, ratio, cash component or investment effect. A reader should follow five checks: confirm the affected security, classify the action, record each official stage, verify any complete mechanics, and inspect successor or cancellation evidence. Company pages, corporate-action hubs and calendars should all use the same reviewed lifecycle. On mobile, every displayed milestone must retain its type, date, source and status. Unknown remains unknown, and a future date remains scheduled rather than completed.

Aramex as a security-lineage anchor
Dubaist identifies Aramex as DFM ticker ARMX and uses it only as a stable identity anchor. The example asserts no specific corporate action, ratio, cash component or investment effect.
