Read insurance and takaful metrics
Premium, claims, reserves, solvency and participant-fund evidence belong to distinct scopes and dates.Start with the insurance perimeter and reporting basis
An insurer cannot be understood from a single premium label. First identify the listed security, legal issuer, licence, reporting group, subsidiaries, branches, product classes and currencies. Separate conventional insurance from takaful and direct insurance from reinsurance or retakaful. Keep general, medical, life or family business distinct when the issuer reports them separately. Written contribution, earned amount, insurance revenue, cash collected and retained exposure describe different stages and must not be substituted for one another. Under IFRS 17, insurance-service presentation also differs from older premium-led reporting, so a historical series needs the issuer's transition and restatement evidence. Record whether a figure is gross or net of reinsurance, current-period or cumulative, consolidated or standalone and audited or reviewed. Acquisition, disposal or portfolio transfer can change the perimeter without organic growth. Dubaist therefore begins with identity and accounting scope, preserves the issuer's terminology and marks any missing bridge as unavailable rather than reconstructing it from nearby totals.
Separate service performance, claims and reinsurance
Insurance service revenue is not the same as gross written premium, and an insurance service result is not the same as total profit. Claims may be incurred, paid, reported, outstanding, gross or net; each label needs a period and business class. Loss and combined ratios are useful only when numerator, denominator, expense allocation and reinsurance basis are compatible. A ratio reported by management remains issuer-reported, while a Dubaist calculation must disclose its formula and source inputs. Claims frequency and severity require their own definitions and exposure base. Reserve development, large losses, catastrophe events and prior-year releases can alter a period without describing normal underwriting. Reinsurance premiums, recoveries, assets, liabilities and counterparty exposure stay separate, because transferring risk is not identical to removing it. The reader should also distinguish insurance-service finance effects from investment income and other finance results. When a disclosure gives only one side of a bridge, Dubaist does not invent the other side or infer underwriting quality from headline profit.
Keep takaful participant and shareholder funds distinct
A takaful operator adds another essential boundary: participant funds do not become shareholder assets. The operational model may involve wakala fees, mudarib participation, retakaful, participant surplus or deficit and a Qard relationship, but the exact structure must come from the company's approved model and current disclosures. A Qard balance, provision, advance or repayment are not interchangeable events. Participant contributions are not automatically shareholder revenue, while investment results may belong to different funds. The reader should identify who bears claims, expenses, investment risk and any deficit support, and whether a metric refers to general, medical, family or a combined fund. Shari'ah governance, the internal supervision committee and annual Shari'ah reporting form part of the evidence perimeter but do not by themselves prove commercial performance. Dubaist records each fund, fee, transfer and decision with its stated role. If a company changes its takaful model, fund allocation or accounting presentation, old and new periods remain separate until an official reconciliation supports comparison.
Read reserves, capital and solvency at the exact date
Technical provisions, insurance contract liabilities, reinsurance contract positions, capital resources and regulatory solvency answer different questions. Their measurement bases can also differ between financial statements and supervisory returns. Every solvency statement therefore needs the legal entity, regulatory framework, valuation date, capital numerator, requirement denominator and source status. A position measured before the reporting date cannot be presented as the final position at period end. Management wording, an auditor's review conclusion and a regulator's decision are separate evidence classes. Meeting a capital requirement does not establish liquidity, claims-paying speed, reserve adequacy or future distributable capacity. Conversely, a remedial plan is not a completed restoration unless the relevant authority confirms the resulting state. Asset concentration, credit quality, duration, currency matching and related-party exposure may matter, but absent details remain unknown. Dubaist never converts a dated solvency disclosure into a live badge. It shows the measurement date and blocks a current conclusion when freshness, scope or regulatory confirmation is missing.
Build a reproducible insurance evidence chain
Begin with the official exchange identity, the CBUAE rulebook and an eligible issuer document. Preserve the document version, page or table, period, unit, fund, consolidation scope, verification date and rights status. Connect each displayed metric to its source and keep reported facts, normalized facts, calculations and editorial explanation visibly distinct. Restatements retain both versions; conflicts show both candidates and the reason no current value was selected. The Sukoon Takaful example is identity-only: Dubaist links the separately listed DFM security SUKOONTAKAFL to its public company profile. It does not reproduce the blocked private dossier, product catalogue, claims, contributions, reserves, Qard, solvency, ownership percentages, prices, valuation or investment conclusion. The example exists to show where a takaful lens attaches to a verified listed identity. A reader can then follow official regulation and source lineage before interpreting any future eligible disclosure. This guide teaches a method, does not rank insurers and does not turn accounting or regulatory evidence into a trading instruction.

Sukoon Takaful as a listed takaful identity
Dubaist identifies Sukoon Takaful as DFM ticker SUKOONTAKAFL. The example connects a verified listed identity to the takaful evidence method and publishes no private dossier fact or financial value.
